ICYMI: A roundup of our song of the week features from the months of September and October.

 "Earth Worship" - Rubblebucket

T&E writer Ray says, "Rubblebucket consistently puts out some of my favorite music and this new single is no exception. The spare, hypnotic beat, spoken word verses and slow build to a bombastic brass-driven outro make it hard for me to decide whether to get up and dance or melt into the couch. I'm looking forward to their new album totally consuming me when it drops in October."

"Floor Corn" - Neil Cicierega

T&E writer Parisa says, "Can you believe it's been five years since this masterpiece came out? Not a week goes by where I don't think about this album. It's the perfect cross-section of sheer absurdity and pure genius (or to quote Spinal Tap guitarist David St. Hubbins, 'It's a fine line between clever and stupid'). I don't think any other album has made me cry from laughing so hard. It also blew my mind when I first found out that Neil Cicierega made Potter Puppet Pals back in 2003, which was essentially my first introduction to the internet. This man has defined meme and internet culture since the beginning and I am forever grateful for his work."

"Goodnight Goodnight" - Hot Hot Heat

T&E writer A. Iwasa says, "A 2000s indie rock revival band that got better and better musically. The band had an amazing upwards arc over the years, but this is one of their most fun songs with very relatable lyrics."

"Vital Nerve" - Company Flow

T&E writer Brandon Biallas says, "While El-P is well known today thanks to much-deserved acclaim garnered through the Run The Jewels project with fellow MC, Killer Mike, he has been highly prolific in the underground hip-hop scene for decades. One of his first groups, Company Flow, is essential listening for any El-P fan that wants to discover the musical origin story that made him the creative force he is now. This song exposed me to what hip-hop could be when an artist pushes the boundaries of what is considered normal and fully embraces their own untethered, artistic expression. The album this song is from,
Funcrusher Plus (1997) is considered a certified classic in its genre and that title is well-deserved. However it does run the risk of falling into obscurity if we do not continue to celebrate it. I can only hope it impacts other listeners like it did for me, during a time when I was more afraid to take my own creative risks."

"Everyone's A Queen On Halloween"  - Seán Bama

T&E writer Kurt B. says, "Here's a treat: A bouncy electro-pop bop that celebrates Gay Christmas with ghosts, high heels, and a riff reminiscent of vintage Erasure. Baby, I'm scared of you."
