ICYMI: A roundup of the song of the week features from the past month.

"To B Without A Hitch" -
Bridget St. John

T&E writer Brian Denton says, "It's almost springtime! The flowers around my town are blooming, and at this time of year I'm taking more naps in the sun and getting surprised by rainstorms. Bridget St. John is a folk singer whose happy-go-lucky and nostalgic music suits my mood during this season. Her lyrics are simple musings of a happy life, and on a spring afternoon I couldn't ask for a better soundtrack."

"Motion Blur" - Citrus Cloud

T&E writer Brandon says "The latest album by Citrus Clouds casts a hypnotic spell on you as you peacefully become immersed in their musical dreamscapes. This song reminds me of how I felt when I first discovered My Bloody Valentine. It felt so mysterious discovering something new and different like that in my younger years and this band is no exception when it comes to capturing that same sense of wonder. This song fills me with acute nostalgia and feelings of halcyon days gone by as I get hopelessly lost in a 'motion blur' of memories. The bottom line? If you're open to it, let them take you on a journey you won't soon forget."

"Necromancy of the Iron Darkness" - Pseudogod

T&E writer Andrej says, "Russia's Pseudogod pull no punches with their mix of frenzied and downright disgusting black and death metal. Taking equal parts Bolt Thrower, 90s Finnish Black Metal, and whatever is in the bottom of one of those perpetual Slavic stews, Pseudogod have managed to produce a record that stands out even within a sub-genre quickly gaining popularity. It becomes immediately apparent that the band has an innate ability to conjure a suffocating and consistently oppressive atmosphere, be they recklessly blasting, laying into de-tuned chugs, or flexing their chops with some expertely executed breakdowns. In comparison to some of their compatriots like Teitanblood, Pseudogod's sound can be a little meat and potatoes, but like most things in Russia, these are some of the most brutal, heavy, and downright iron-fisted potatoes you'll come across."

"My Old School" - Steely Dan

T&E writer A. Iwasa says, "Growing up, I knew a couple songs by Steely Dan from classic rock radio that I didn't care for too much.  About the time I encountered this gem, I read a column or two from Punk Planet by Jessica Hopper where she wrote about how much she enjoyed this band (someone needs to reprint that material!). "California, tumbles into the sea, that'll be the day I go back to [Ohio]'... "
