ICYMI: A roundup of the song of the week features from the past month.

"Birthday" - Disclosure, Kehlani, Syd

T&E writer Ronny says, “My birthday just passed, and it was an absolute joy. I just turned some random number in my 30s, which isn't special, but I actually got to party with a dozen-plus beautiful friends and loved ones—something that hadn't happened in over a year. Even better? No one sang 'Happy Birthday' to me. I hate that song. True, Stevie Wonder wrote a far more excellent version than the one we force ourselves to sing to each other, but I have to say my new favorite birthday song is this one by Disclosure. As usual with the UK duo, it's a perfectly produced house/garage track elevated to divine heights with the inclusion of great vocalists: In this case, Syd and Kehlani bringing sex and fire to the mic. Swoon."

"The Darkness That You Fear" - The Chemical Brothers

T&E writer Ray Sanchez says, "This new upbeat dance track is catchy as hell and feels like a perfect reflection of the cautious optimism I'm feeling right now as the US starts to turn the corner on the pandemic. I can't wait to dance with my friends this summer. "

"BIG BOI" - ABRA feat. Tommy Genesis

T&E writer Sieya says," I wanted to use this Song of the Week as an opportunity to shine a spotlight on two underrated female artists that are very heavy in my daily music rotation. The song 'BIG BOI' by ABRA, featuring Tommy Genesis, is written for all the badass ladies who no one can mess with. It's for the women who have everything they need on their own, who aren't impressed by people who try to puff their chests with designer clothes and shiny jewelry. I especially love ABRA because not only is she a singer and rapper, but she's also a record producer. BIG BOI is only the beginning of an entryway into ABRA's carefree music for outsiders."
