ICYMI: A roundup of the song of the week features from the past month.

"Buzzkill" - Mothica

T&E writer Alex says, "Personal trauma is a hell of a thing. It's important to process your trauma in a healthy way, and, if necessary, make life a little harder for whoever caused it when they go unchecked. Mothica wrote this song about some trauma that she experienced as a teenager at the hands of someone who never faced appropriate consequences for it; I won't go into detail of what happened to her here, but if you're curious (and you have the stomach for it), she's pretty open about her experiences on her Instagram and Medium pages. "Buzzkill" is a slow-burning industrial-pop diss track against someone who deserves to have their secrets spilled, and you can't help but feel her catharsis while you're nodding your head and vibing along."

"Can't Leave The Night" - BADBADNOTGOOD

T&E writer Brandon Biallas says, "Combining elements from electronic music and jazz, this addictive song consumes you in its aural grasp and lingers with you after it's over. The ominously-titled "Can't Leave The Night" is a powerfully dark hype track with fantastic drumming that's barely left my brain since I first heard it. This song has an almost primal appeal to it. It taps into something wild within you. It makes you feel like you're running from something inescapable while also instilling a profound sense of calmness. This track is best listened to in the car while racing home from work down the highway. Preferably on the night of a full moon."

"Mind Flowers" - Ultimate Spinach

T&E writer Greg says: Our musical landscape is littered with underappreciated 1960s psychedelic bands, but Ultimate Spinach stands out with its pure, unabashed, psychedelic fuzzy wonderment. They were a victim of backlash to the failed "Bosstown" marketing effort to turn Boston into the psychedelic capital of the US, which largely (and publicly) failed. Luckily, this band stands on its own. Come for the deep organ backing, excessive wawa and tremolo, and stay for the trippy lyrics and spoken word on slow-burn rockers like "Mind Flowers."

"Next to Me, pt. 1" -  Lily & Horn Horse

T&E writer Joanna Swaap says, "If you are sleeping on this perfect, amazing, weird album this is my wake up call for you! The opening track is an excellent mix of 8-bitty bloops, synthy drums and sugar sweet vocals. Enjoy and get lost."
