ICYMI: A roundup of our song of the week features from the month of February.

"Insomniac" - Echobelly

T&E writer A. Iwasa says, "A 1990s British power pop band that's still at it but never really seemed to take off in the U.S. This one was actually on the Dumb and Dumber soundtrack, which means I may have heard it once or twice back in the day, but now that I've actually listened to their albums I've been so impressed."

"Ankle Injuries" - Fujiya & Miyagi

T&E writer Parisa says, "This track is like if Neu! and Hot Chip had a sonic love child. It locks you in with a repetitive, deeply hypnotic bassline and intensifies the trance with floating synth lines and new-wave guitar chords. A minimalist track with unmistakable dancefloor sensibilities...this is kraut-pop at its finest!"

"Supa Star" - Group Home

T&E writer Brandon Biallas says, “Supported by the transcendent early production work of DJ Premier, New York rap duo Group Home represents the visceral and sobering reality that was everyday life for these two artists growing up in the concrete jungle. This beat in particular, with it’s gritty '90s production value, holds up incredibly well. The swelling guitars and that beastly bass slide are guaranteed to give you chills down your spine. For optimal listening, this track is best experienced while driving past foreboding buildings late at night while you bask in the fluorescent glow of street lights.”

"Revolución" - Frankie Simone

T&E photographer Chelsea Whitaker says, "Frankie Simone is a queer, non-binary Puerto Rican singer, songwriter and producer. Calling to their ancestors, 'Revolución' celebrates liberation in the face of pain and turbulence, reminding us that pleasure and grief can exist within the same body. And with its rhythmic and upbeat sound, it encourages us all to explore those feelings through dance."
