Tune in to Global Rhythm Radio for an eclectic mix of contemporary and traditional international music, featuring your host Parisa. This episode is a celebration of the past five years - a "greatest hits" of sorts - where your host shares some of her favorite tunes she's shared throughout the years.

Global Rhythm Radio originally airs the fourth Thursday of every month on 91.3 FM KXCI Tucson is archived here on T&E.

Lately I've been using the blogspace of Global Rhythm Radio to delve deep into one contemporary track from the mix and one older song. However, since this is a specialty mix of sorts, I'll change it up for this post. You can find the tracklist here, and below I'll share some links to interviews I've done with with artists featured in this show.

"Above all, it is a message of peace, love, respect and tolerance that animates us. We would like each one of us to be able to transmit this to others, pulling ourselves upwards, and developing the right attitudes towards everything around us."

Avalanche Kaito

"I like to believe that there is no real obsolescence in a tale or a good story. That's what gives them their timelessness: as long as there will be humans they will be valid. If there is re/de/construction it is in the form... My job is to reveal the whole spectrum of hidden colors with the help of chemistry.

"Working with field recording gives me a chance to travel back in time and  tap into the  beginning of how it all started. Organically weaving all that into today's electronic and sonic fabric breaks barriers and creatively expands endless possibilities of what sound and movement can become today and future with no borders."

Otagh Band

"I think they all have one thing in common: independence! That is, independent of everything. Not looking for fame, but looking for a specific audience. It is a music with limited possibilities and is even recorded and performed in home studios. So, their common denominator can have the same characteristics of independent music in Iran."

Thank you for listening and for all the support over the last five years of Global Rhythm Radio! Special shout out to KXCI and to Matt Moon, the OG GRR host, for sharing this show with me. It's been such an honor and a privilege to co-host this show and learn about the incredible musical traditions from around the world. Much love to you all!
