SONG OF THE WEEK
Song: "Yes Indeed"
Artist: Knxledge T&E contributor Andre Pettman says, "Leave it to Knxwledge to imbue a song that was previously void of any charisma or vibrancy (not in a bad way, I very much enjoy the original by Lil Baby and Drake) with a syrupy, perfectly fuzzy rework. The piano hits, airy vocal sample, and subtle synthesizer musings mesh so well with the original "Yes Indeed" beat, transforming the song into the ideal post-club comedown tune. Drake sounds so comfortable with this kind of production; it feels like something he would have rapped over during the Take Care and Nothing Was the Same era (yaknow back when he was sensitive and vulnerable...now he's just cold and mad about paying child support like everyone else). The joy of hearing Lil Baby saying the word "Pikachu" on a Very Popular Rap Song in the Year of Our Lord 2018 was already incredible, and Knxwledge brings him even closer to the Big Man Upstairs with this one. Don't let this track get lost in the constant deluge of Knxwledge loosies, this one's a keeper." |
